What is Entra ID?
Microsoft Entra ID, formerly known as Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), is Microsoft's cloud-based identity and access management solution. The service functions as a central identity platform for authentication and authorization to Microsoft 365, Azure services, and thousands of other SaaS applications. From a cybersecurity perspective, Entra ID provides capabilities for multi-factor authentication, conditional access, privileged identity management, and detailed logging of identity-related activities for secure access to resources both in the cloud and on-premises environments.
Think of Entra ID as the digital reception desk for a company's cloud infrastructure. It verifies who the user is (authentication), determines what they have access to (authorization), and monitors how they use the services. Just like a physical reception desk issues access cards with different access levels, Entra ID adds multiple security layers that can require additional proof of identity based on risk factors such as location, device, and abnormal usage patterns.
Sicra and Entra ID
Sicra has specialized expertise in Microsoft Entra ID and helps organizations establish a security-optimized identity platform. Our approach includes designing and implementing Zero Trust architecture with Entra ID as the foundation, integrating with existing identity solutions, configuring advanced security features such as conditional access, and establishing robust processes for lifecycle management of identities. We also assist with migration from on-premises Active Directory to Entra ID and hybrid scenarios with security as the focus.
