What is TOTP?
TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) is a method for verifying identity using one-time codes that change after a short period of time, for example after every 30 seconds. These codes are generated by combining a secret key with the current time and are used as an extra layer of security alongside passwords.
Think of it as a digital version of old bank code cards – but instead of using pre-printed codes, TOTP generates new ones in real time. It’s commonly used through apps like Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy
