I'm looking forward to the merger with high expectations. I have the impression that Sicra has a team of highly skilled people, and I'm excited to learn from my new colleagues. Networking and IT security have a lot in common, so it will be interesting to see what kinds of synergies we can create together.
Right now, I work with data center networking and everything that comes with it: switching and routing, firewalls, load balancing, and a fair amount of automation.
On a typical day, I work on-site with my customer's team as part of their day-to-day operations. Most of my time is spent on ticket handling, operations, and project work. Every now and then I also get involved in other projects, including one earlier this year where we replaced the network on an FLNG vessel (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas facility) offshore near the coast of Senegal. It was a fun and interesting break from my regular work, with completely new challenges to solve.
What motivates me the most is solving problems, really digging into a challenge and finding the right solution. I also find a lot of satisfaction in making a positive difference for the customer. I enjoy working with people as part of a team, and I'm also interested in improving ways of working, collaboration, and leadership.
Right now, I'm excited about the merger, which is still very new. It will be interesting to see what everyday life will be like in the new company. On a personal level, I'm looking forward to the summer, spending time outdoors, swimming, playing golf, and enjoying some slower days to recharge.
I don't have any favorite tools beyond the standard tools I use for network operations. I try to use AI where it makes sense, but it's not always as straightforward as some people make it out to be. I spend a lot of time providing context, reviewing the results, and, most importantly, deciding whether the information I want to share should be shared with a third party at all. When it comes to learning, discussing ideas, and solving problems, though, AI can be very valuable.
I can't really claim to be an avid reader, but I recently read On My Watch by Jens Stoltenberg. Learning how international politics works behind closed doors was incredibly interesting, and it's written in a way that makes it an easy and engaging read.
I like to stay active, so I spend a fair amount of my free time running, skiing, playing padel, and golfing. I also enjoy going out to a good restaurant or spending time cooking at home.
