What is a network?
A network is the infrastructure that connects devices, users, systems, and services so they can communicate with each other. It can include everything from local networks within a building (LAN) to global networks such as the internet. Technically, networks consist of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, cables, and protocols that ensure data flows correctly between endpoints. Networks are the foundation of the digital world—without a functioning network, both IT and OT systems come to a halt.
Metaphorically, a network can be compared to a highway system: if the roads are well built, clearly signed, and securely regulated, traffic flows safely and efficiently. But if the highway is poorly secured or misconfigured, unauthorized users can take shortcuts, cause congestion, or trigger collisions.
Sicra and networking
Following the merger with Bluetree, Sicra now has one of Norway’s strongest professional environments for modern networking. Bluetree is a leader in network security, Zero Trust networking, Zscaler, Cisco, and advanced segmentation—and strengthens Sicra’s already solid networking practice by adding further specialist expertise and capacity.
Sicra ensures that networks are built according to best practices, with proper segmentation, access control, and monitoring. Through services such as Security Advisory, Zero Trust Architecture, and Sicra SOC MDR powered by Arctic Wolf, Sicra helps organizations establish robust and secure networks—across both IT and OT environments.
