What is IoT?
The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to physical devices—such as sensors, cameras, smart TVs, and thermostats—that are connected to the internet and able to communicate with each other and with users. In cybersecurity, IoT expands the digital attack surface by introducing more endpoints, often with inconsistent security capabilities.
You can think of IoT as giving every object in your environment a microphone and an internet cable—practical and powerful, but potentially risky if left unsecured.
Example
A smart home with internet-connected door locks and surveillance cameras offers convenience, but if not properly secured, these devices could be accessed and manipulated by unauthorized actors.
Sicra and IoT
IoT devices introduce new vulnerabilities in both private and industrial environments. Sicra helps organizations assess IoT-related risks, secure the surrounding infrastructure, and implement monitoring and incident response measures in IoT-integrated systems.
This is especially relevant in sectors like healthcare, smart buildings, manufacturing, and logistics.
