What is IIoT?
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is a specialized branch of IoT where sensors and machinery in industrial environments—such as factories, power plants, or infrastructure—are connected to digital networks. This enables real-time monitoring and automation, but also introduces unique security risks.
Think of IIoT as connecting the entire factory floor to the internet. The machines become smart, but also need to be protected from cyber threats. A single vulnerable device could compromise the safety or availability of the entire operation.
Example
A factory using IIoT to monitor production temperatures could be attacked by an actor who manipulates the sensor data, leading to defective products or a complete halt in operations.
Sicra and IIoT
Sicra helps organizations understand and address IIoT risks through secure network segmentation, tailored security solutions, and traffic monitoring. This is especially important in industries that rely on continuous uptime and high safety standards.
