Sicra made a strong mark at SANS London 2025 in week 18, where several of our skilled consultants participated to enhance their cybersecurity expertise. After an intensive week of courses, competitions, and professional development, Sicra returned home with impressive results: two individual first places and a team victory in the prestigious Capture the Flag competition Cyber Defense NetWars.
SANS Institute is a world-leading organization in training and certification for security specialists. The organization offers courses globally – in Europe, North America, and Asia – where participants can take certification courses, engage in knowledge sharing and competitions, and test their skills in realistic scenarios.
During the event, three of our consultants were awarded a "Challenge Coin," a highly esteemed distinction given only to the top participants. The coin, also known as RMO (Round Metal Object), is awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional technical skill, leadership, and a culture of professional sharing.
Filip Fog won first place in the course FOR508: Advanced Incident Response, Threat Hunting, and Digital Forensics – a course focusing on advanced methods for detecting, analyzing, and handling sophisticated cyber threats, including APT groups and ransomware.
Bjørn Henninen took first place in SEC549: Cloud Security Architecture, where participants learn to build secure and scalable cloud solutions. The course covers threats, architectural choices, and the implementation of security controls in complex cloud infrastructures.
Kim Hansen was awarded a Challenge Coin in the course LDR551: Building and Leading Security Operations Center – a course for SOC leaders. He received the Coin not for the best test result, but for his exceptional efforts as a facilitator – this was his 6th participation in the SANS Work Study program.
In addition to the individual achievements, Sicra took home the team victory in Cyber Defense NetWars, an intensive Capture the Flag competition organized by SANS. The team consisted of Filip Fog, Kim Hansen, and Bjørn Henninen from Sicra, along with Bjørn Carlin from NAV IT.
The results from SANS London 2025 underscore Sicra's strong professional environment and position as a leading player in cybersecurity in the Nordics. With both individual and team-based awards, we demonstrate that our expertise meets high international standards – and that we continuously develop to meet new threats and needs.
Our results from SANS London 2025 are clear evidence of the high professional level at Sicra. The fact that our consultants not only participate but win in these demanding cybersecurity competitions shows the quality and capacity we possess. I am incredibly proud of the team – this confirms our position as a leading competence partner in the Nordics.
