Role at Sicra
Bjørn Henninen is employed as a security analyst at Sicra.
At Sicra, Bjørn will be involved in establishing, developing, and maintaining the SOC service we deliver.
– I am pragmatic by nature. Instead of pushing products on the customer, I believe it is much more important to implement solutions that can solve their challenges.
Bjørn enjoys being onsite with the customer and working systematically on their challenges.
– I like having a checklist I can follow. If the customer has a challenge, I don’t leave the task until it is solved.
Education and certifications
From NTNU Trondheim, he has a civil engineering degree (master's degree) in computer engineering.
– I wrote a master’s thesis on security in industrial networks. My main focus was on the classification of vulnerabilities.
He also has several certifications in cybersecurity.
– One certification I want to highlight is CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). This one is great because it covers so much.
– I also want to highlight GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA). This certification is about finding the right evidence for what has happened in an incident.
Experience in cybersecurity
His first job was at the Norwegian Directorate of Elections (VDIR). There he ended up being responsible for cybersecurity for election systems in Norway.
– I felt that it was the most important job I have had. We did something meaningful every day and were involved in delivering one of the cornerstones of Norwegian democracy.
Then he worked on pentesting everything from smaller web applications to larger internal environments at Netsecurity.
– After that, I was involved in establishing and leading the incident management team at Orange CyberDefense.
In recent years, he has worked for Aztek (now Accelerate at Iver). There he focused a lot on cloud security related to Microsoft solutions.
Hobbies and family life
– There isn’t much time for hobbies anymore. Now I have children, and much of my time goes to that.
When he does have free time, it goes to good old-fashioned nerding.
He says there is a lot of Dungeon and Dragons (D&D).
– One of the things I appreciated about Covid was that it forced us to do more things together online. Among other things, D&D with a remote team at work.
