A security classification is a grading system for assessing content before sharing and distributing sensitive information. Security classification, along with security clearance and authorization for individuals, determines who has access to what information. The strictness of the security classification depends on the potential damage the information could cause if it falls into the wrong hands.

Critical infrastructure: Critical information about water supply, energy supply, transport networks, and communication systems.
Diplomatic documents: Agreements and correspondence between nations that can affect international relations.
Personal data: Information about individuals who work with or have access to sensitive information, including their security clearances and background checks.
