What is FWaaS?
FWaaS (Firewall as a Service) is a cloud based firewall solution that delivers network security as a service rather than as on premises hardware or software.
Traditionally, firewalls have been deployed in data centers or office locations to protect the network. With FWaaS, this functionality is moved to the cloud, where traffic is inspected and controlled regardless of where the user is located.
This enables consistent enforcement of security policies across all users, whether they are working from the office, remotely, or on the move. It also provides better scalability and simplified operations.
A simple way to understand FWaaS is to think of a firewall that is no longer tied to a building, but instead follows your traffic wherever it goes.
Sicra and FWaaS
FWaaS is a key component of modern security architecture, especially within SASE and Zero Trust models.
At Sicra, it is used in the design and assessment of solutions that modernize network security, reduce complexity, and ensure consistent protection across users and locations.
