What is DLP?
DLP (Data Loss Prevention) refers to technologies and practices designed to prevent sensitive information from being shared, accessed, or transferred without proper authorization. This includes personal data, trade secrets, payment information, or any confidential content that should remain protected within the organization.
Think of DLP as a safety net around your data: it monitors how information moves, who can access it, and what actions are allowed. The goal is to prevent information from "leaking" out—whether accidentally or through malicious intent.
Example
A DLP solution might automatically block an email containing a national ID number from being sent outside the company if it violates internal or regulatory data protection rules, such as GDPR.
Sicra and DLP
DLP is a key component in several of Sicra’s services related to risk management, regulatory compliance, and hybrid or cloud-based environments. Sicra helps organizations locate their sensitive data, define handling policies, and implement technologies that safeguard data in real time.
DLP is particularly relevant for organizations working with personal data, operating under regulations such as GDPR, or managing complex infrastructures where data flows between systems and providers.
