You originally come from Bluetree, which has recently merged with Sicra. What are your thoughts on the merger, and what expectations do you have for the transition from Bluetree to Sicra?
It feels exciting, and it will be interesting to see how things develop. I’m hopeful—and have a good feeling—that this will be a very good match.
What do you work with, and which technologies do you use in your role today?
I work as a developer at the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Norway’s national register authority), primarily on the Altinn platform. My day-to-day work involves a lot of .NET and C#, with some React on the frontend. We are working to modernize and simplify business registration services. What I particularly value is the high degree of influence we have over how solutions are designed and implemented.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
My workday usually starts off calmly, often in slippers or wool socks with a cup of cocoa, before standup sets the direction for the day. After that, the focus is typically on development work or solution planning.
What motivates you in your day-to-day work? What do you find most rewarding to work on?
Solving problems—whether they are technical challenges or more high-level, overarching ones.
What are you most looking forward to going forward, and which tools are important in your daily work?
I’m particularly looking forward to finding good, thoughtful ways to use AI to make the workday more efficient—not 100% vibe coding, but as a natural tool alongside the others in the toolbox. On a daily basis, Visual Studio is the most important tool I use, and it’s where most of the development work happens.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.”
– Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), ~00:11:15
What do you like to spend time on when you’re not working, and is there anything fun or unexpected about you you’d like to share?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time on personal projects such as a Proxmox homelab, smart-home solutions, and gardening—often together with, or for, my wife. In addition, I run my own esports team that competes at the top level nationally, and I’ve (somewhat unfortunately) had chickenpox twice.
