Roar has nearly 20 years of experience with Citrix and Windows solutions, but more recently, he has been working with security solutions from Palo Alto Networks.
– People often think of firewalls when it comes to IT security, but security is so much more.
He describes total oversight and transparency as the holy grail of IT security.
– Stopping an attack is simple enough. Just pull the plug. The challenge is ensuring that people who need access get it, and that threat actors are kept out.
Roar describes it as massive work. Therefore, he values the good collaboration at Sicra.
– It's a bit like standing guard. In IT security, it means we need more people who can control the different parts of the infrastructure.
Although he likes building new installations, he is in his element when he gets to revise existing security architecture.
– I often think I would have been an industrial carpenter in another life, but then I remember I have eleven thumbs.
When it comes to hobbies, Roar says he is a bit atypical at Sicra.
– Many at Sicra are handymen or into gaming. I sing in a choir. Sometimes at OscarsborgOperaen. Most recently in 2022. We sang Otello.
Roar says he has been dancing for almost 10 years. The last two years to mambo.
– Besides choir and dance, I like to learn new languages. I've spent countless hours on Duolingo. I had a streak of 300 days or something like that. I'm not a gamer, but I'm a repetition freak. Repetition is the secret to getting good at anything you do.
"We are very satisfied with the consultants from Sicra. Roar has broad expertise and performs the tasks he is given accurately and well-documented. He thoroughly understands new issues and solves them well. He is a cheerful guy who is easy to get to know."
