Ørjan Bækkelund
Ørjan has been surrounded by computers and video games since he was 6 years old.
– One of my earliest memories is the dog eating the cat in the game Alley Cat.
As a teenager, he made changes to the network settings on his PC to improve internet performance.
– It improved the internet speed, but the phone went into a coma. Mom and Dad were not so happy.
After a study period at Andøya with space technology, his career quickly shifted to networking, programming, and security.
– I lived in a dorm with other like-minded nerds in the space technology program. Among other things, we launched a rocket that went a hundred meters up into the sky.
Ørjan has worked with a lot of on-premises technology in security organizations for 10 years. His goal is to move more into the cloud.
He loves solving complex technical challenges related to networking, load balancing, authentication, and security in general.
At Sicra, he is one of the specialists in F5 BIG-IP, but he is increasingly leaning towards Terraform and IAC. He also contributes his expertise to Palo Alto Networks’ toolbox.
Ørjan always works to keep his certifications in his areas of specialization up to date. In his assignments, he seeks professional challenges that provide better services and enhanced security at the same time.
In his free time, Ørjan enjoys playing video games. Kerbal Space Program is one of his favorite games. He also spends a lot of time with Warcraft.
– You could say I play more video games than 40-year-olds in general.
Besides playing video games, he lives in a nice apartment with a good view in Sinsen with his partner.

Ørjan has a Masters degree in communication technology with specialization in IT-security from NTNU, which is considered among the best schools in Norway. He has wide experience in operations of IT-security systems in large and complex environments. He works methodically and handles hectic environments well.
