The cybersecurity company Sicra is joining forces with the network specialist Bluetree to build a leading Nordic player in cybersecurity. The new company will help organizations protect, modernize and optimize their IT and OT environments – two technological worlds that are becoming increasingly intertwined.

– Bluetree and Sicra complement each other extremely well. Bluetree’s strength lies in network security and OT, while ours is security within traditional IT. In addition, Bluetree complements our technological expertise, says Stig Valderhaug, CEO of Sicra.
Sicra is known for its strong professional environment within cybersecurity, offering services such as Security Operations Center (SOC) and CISO-for-hire, and is a recognized partner of, among others, Arctic Wolf and Palo Alto Networks. Bluetree, for its part, has strong expertise within networking, zero trust and extensive experience with cybersecurity in OT environments and industrial settings. Bluetree is a certified Cisco partner and is Norway’s leading partner with Zscaler.
– For customers, the merger means more capacity, more expertise, and a broader service offering. Sicra and Bluetree complement each other perfectly: Sicra with proven security operations and leading security advisors. Bluetree with expertise in modern networking and OT security. Together, we become an even stronger partner for organizations that want to protect themselves from cyber threats, whether it concerns office networks, factories, or critical infrastructure, says Jean-Paul Baaklini, CEO of Bluetree.
– The merger with Bluetree is an important step toward establishing Norway’s most complete specialist environment within cybersecurity. We look forward to building the company further together, Valderhaug continues.
Traditionally, IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) have been separate worlds. Now they are converging through cloud-based services, remote operations, and data-driven production processes. OT includes industrial control systems and computer-controlled production machinery, robots, and sensors. OT often drives critical societal infrastructure such as energy supply, transport, and communications. In recent years, IT and OT have become increasingly intertwined, while cyber threats continue to rise.
– Society depends on critical systems being available at all times. At the same time, criminal actors and nation-states attempt every single day to shut down central IT and OT systems. This places increasing demands on robust cybersecurity solutions across the entire technological platform, Valderhaug emphasizes.
Mathias Øvreås Wille, Director at Credo Partners, which is the majority shareholder in Sicra, emphasizes that the merger is an important strategic move to build a Norwegian cybersecurity environment with international potential.
– The digitalization of industry is creating an enormous need for security in OT environments. By combining Sicra’s breadth with Bluetree’s specialized expertise, we gain a unique position in the market. This is not only about growth, but about building national digital resilience, says Øvreås Wille.
Formally, Sicra is acquiring Bluetree through a combination of cash and shares in the new company. Bluetree’s employee ownership model will continue, and all key personnel will remain as shareholders in the combined company.
