What is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time)?
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the international time standard used as a common reference for time around the world. In cybersecurity, UTC is commonly used for timestamps in logs, security events, and monitoring systems, allowing activity from different systems, services, and geographic locations to be compared consistently.
When an organization collects logs from servers, network devices, endpoints, cloud services, and identity platforms, those systems may operate across different time zones.
